FREE WRITING:HARRY POTTER BUTTERBEER MILKSHAKE - NERDY NUMMIES

Hey guys, it’s Ro! Welcome to another Nerdy Nummies! I got so many requests from you guys to make something Harry Potter themed. I live in California, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is opening at Universal Studios. And I’m so excited! It was the perfect time to make a Harry Potter recipe. So, today we’re gonna be making Butterbeer Milkshakes! Let’s get started! The things you will need, will be: 1 bottle of cream soda, some butterscotch syrup, whipped cream, 3/4 teaspoon of salt, some butterscotch chips, vanilla bean ice cream, and back here I’ve got some milkshake glasses, because I wanted it to look like a traditional milkshake, with some cute little straws, a blender and an ice cream scoop. Now let’s put it all together! Boop! Time to make these wizard milkshakes! This recipe is good for 2 milkshakes for 2 people, I put both the milkshake glasses into the freezer so that they would be nice and cold when we serve our milkshakes. We are gonna be mixing everything up in a blender, this is a very easy mode recipe, easy and delicious! We need 1/2 a cup of butterscotch, before I pour it, I’m gonna spray it so that the butterscotch will slide right out. Boop! Feels like potions class! Pour him in there. Oooooohhhhh! Into the blender! Now we’re gonna open up our cream soda. Eeee! High pour! High pour! Next we’re gonna add our vanilla bean ice cream. You’re gonna need 3-1/2 cups. And then this little scoop is a 1/2 scoop, so I need 7 scoops. Last but not least, we’re gonna add our salt. It may sound a little weird but, it’s gonna make it taste magical! And now we’re gonna mix it up until it’s fully combined and smooth! Hitting liquify! There we go! Our milkshake is ready, I took the glasses out of the freezer, they’ve chilled, they’re nice and cold. Just gonna give them a little bit of decoration, little butterscotch on my spoon, just drizzle it around the inside. I’m gonna do a couple spoonfuls in each glass. Now we’re gonna pour in our milkshakes. Woooooo! I like to garnish my milkshakes with whipped cream. This is totally optional, but I love this! Alright, just a little bit on top, here we go! I just like to make it look pretty! Now I’m gonna sprinkle some butterscotch chips on top, this is totally optional, but I just think it’s so yummy! Don’t forget your straws! Ta-da! Here are the Butterbeer Milkshakes that we made today! A big thank you to you guys for suggesting something Harry Potter Themed. I love Butterbeer everything, we’ve made Butterbeer cupcakes before in the past, and now we have made a Butterbeer themed drink, yum-yum-yum-yum-yum! I’ll be taking lots of photos and posting them on Tumblr, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, and if you guys make these drinks, or any other Harry Potter drinks, please take a picture and send it to me. I love seeing your baking creations, it just makes my day! And, if you have any other ideas for any other Nerdy Nummies, please let me know, leave me a comment down below and I will do my best to make it happen! Alright, thanks again you guys, bye-bye! You can make the recipe, or you can just be like, “Accio Butterbeer Milkshake!” My milkshake brings all the muggles to the yard, and they’re like…. They’re not allowed!

LISTENING JOURNAL:People Try The World's Most Comfortable Shoes

Oh, okay. - Today, we are trying on the world's most comfortable shoes. - They're from Allbirds all the way from New Zealand. - They claim to be the world's most comfortable shoes. - I'll believe it when I feel it. - Yeah. - That's like a big statement to make. - What makes shoes good shoes? - For me, it's about style and comfort. - Beautiful and comfortable That's just like gold. - Yeah that's the dream. - Should we open these up? - Yeah, let's do it. - Oh, look it says Allbirds. - It's like opening up like wings. - That's so cute. - These are the Loungers. I have the Loungers. - I've got the Runners. - They're made out of wool. They feel nice on the outside. - They're very fuzzy. - They're very light. - Yeah, this is the lightest shoe I've ever felt. - Apparently, you can go sock less with these, so I'm gonna go sock less. - To get the full experience. - Can I do one with the sock on and one without? - It's up to you. - I feel like I could lounge in these. - You can actually run in this. I feel like it's going to fall apart if I run in these. - They're called runners. Runners run. It's like I'm walking on a cloud. - Seriously. - It's kind of like what I would imagine walking on memory foam. Each foot has a little baby memory foam mattress. - Oh, okay. - Those are cute. - I would wear the heck out of those. - Yeah. - I love the yellow. It's so fun and cute. - I feel like I could do anything right now. - You can do a back flip. - I'm gonna try doing a back flip. I have not done one, no, I'm kidding. I'm not. - I never really wear closed toe shoes. I wear a lot of sandals. - Yeah, you wear a lot of sandals. - But for shoes that I don't normally wear, they're really comfortable. - These are legit. - Yeah they're pretty legit. They look good too. - Yeah, they're not like a common running shoe that I've ever seen. They're more like a style shoe. - Usually when you say comfortable, a lot of shoes it screams out like ugly, but I feel like these shoes have design and comfort. - We didn't even have to like break them in which is nice. - No, I kind of feel like they're molded to my feet too. - Five stars for me honestly. - I give it five stars out of sheer comfort. I've never worn a shoe, aside from a slipper, that felt this good. - If someone's like would you like to wear this pair of shoes all day? - Oh yeah. - I would say yes. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Yes I would.

LISTENING JOURNAL :What Really Happens When You Swallow Gum?

Hey guys, Amy with you on DNews today talking about that most obnoxious of habits: gum chewing. Whether you were told a gum-tree would grow in your tummy or that swallowed gum would stick around for seven years, pretty much everyone was told to never swallow gum… But why? What would happen if you did? So let’s start with the obvious. When we chew food, it disintegrates - that’s because we have an enzyme in our saliva that, along with chewing, starts breaking down food. Then we swallow it, and proteins and enzymes in our stomach breaks the food down further so all the necessary nutrients are ready to be absorbed by our intestines. What isn’t absorbed is excreted as waste along with other by-products our body wants to get rid of. But gum doesn’t disintegrate no matter how much we chew it and slobber on it… it just doesn’t start going through the digestive process in our mouths! And this isn’t a new discovery. Archaeologists have found tooth-marked lumps of birch bark tar dating back to the Mesolithic period of the Stone Age. Ancient Greek women chewed mastic to clean their teeth and freshen their breath; Native Americans taught colonists they could quench their thirst by chewing a resin from spruce trees; and in the 19th century, people chewed sweetened paraffin wax. Until the Second World War, the base of gum was chicle, the latex sap from the sapodilla trees. Modern gum uses a synthetic or natural rubber that mimics the properties chicle… it’s rubber mixed with sweetener and flavours that release into your mouth when you chew it… appetizing, eh? So swallowing gum comes down to swallowing rubber, which just sounds like it'd be bad for your body! I mean, the FDA classifies gum as a "nonnutritive masticatory substance”! The bad part is that gum's base - that rubber - is not digestible; our bodies can break down some of the sugars that give gum its sweetness and flavour but the wad of rubber isn’t getting broken down. On the plus side, our bodies have other ways of getting things out; our digest tract is an active place. Muscle contractions that move food through our bodies will help the gum wad along, and it’ll eventually come out the other end. It’s sort of like the husks of corn seeds. Our bodies can’t digest them, but they don’t just pile up in our stomachs. If you look closely, you’ll notice you pass those husks in a few hours or couple of days, depending on your own digestive system. But that doesn’t mean you should make a habit of swallowing gum. Because it doesn’t get broken down, your body is pushing a significant mass through your system, and if you add to that mass you could end up with an intestinal obstruction, basically a blockage in the one tube that processes everything. The immediate symptoms are stomach aches and constipation, but left untreated an obstruction can get much worse. But this is super rare. So swallowing that one piece of gum probably isn’t going to kill you, but still, try not to do it. And need something to do while chewing that gum? Why not binge on Sex Sent Me to the ER! You can watch all the fun and other Discovery Life shows on the Discovery Life Go App! Check it out and download for free at your App Store. We once looked into whether or not gum is better than flossing; you can find the answer here. What weird gum myth have you heard? READING JOURNAL : Are Google, Amazon and others getting too big?

The US tech giants Apple, Google's parent Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon and Facebook are the five biggest companies in the world by market capitalisation. Their increasing dominance is fuelling concerns about competition and data privacy.

So are regulators about to get tough?

Shares in Amazon and Alphabet raced past the $1,000-mark this month, the latest sign of the companies' growing might.

Google is expected to attract more than 40% of digital advertising dollars this year; Amazon is on track to collect half of US online sales by 2021, according to at least one analyst.

But as investors cheer their rise, it's also causing concern amongst the powers that be.

US regulators have long lagged Europe when it comes to cracking down on anti-competitive behaviour but Jonathan Kanter, a Washington-based antitrust attorney at Paul Weiss, believes attitudes may be changing.
"People are asking questions about whether the tools and principles that have been used previously are the right ones to continue using.

"There are certainly lots of people who think that there needs to be some change."
I think website is convenient , but somebody might use it to do bad thing , so we have to think some ways to deal with , or we had better not use website too long.

READING JOURNAL:Marawi siege: US special forces aiding Philippine army

US special forces are helping the Philippine military retake the southern city of Marawi from IS-linked militants, the Philippine army says.
The forces are providing technical help and are not fighting, it said.
President Rodrigo Duterte had earlier threatened to throw out US troops amid strained relations since taking office.
Militants have been under siege since rampaging through the southern city on 23 May. The latest fighting has claimed the lives of 13 Philippine marines.
Hundreds of militants, who have been flying the black flag of so-called Islamic State and are led by the self-styled IS emir of the southern Philippines, Isnilon Hapilon, and the Maute brothers Omar and Abdullah, are still holed up in the city.
The latest casualties bring the number of Philippine troops killed in the fighting to 58.
